Richard L. Becker

Richard L. Becker is the founder and senior principal of Becker and Hebert and has been a practicing attorney for over thirty (30) years. Mr. Becker's primary practice areas include real estate development, real estate finance, general corporate matters, commercial and residential title closings, corporate and asset sales and acquisitions, business formations and general business matters. Representative clients include financial institutions, real estate developers, general contractors, home builders, health care facility owners, oil and gas exploration and production related services companies, mortgage bankers and private investors.

Mr. Becker currently serves as an Assistant City-Parish Attorney representing the Lafayette City-Parish Consolidated Government, the Lafayette Planning and Zoning Commission, The Board of Zoning Adjustment and the Department of Planning, Zoning and Codes. In addition, Mr. Becker serves as general counsel to the Lafayette Public Trust Financing Authority and special counsel to the City of Lafayette Housing Authority.

Mr. Becker received his J. D. from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1974. During his legal career, Mr. Becker has practiced in the District of Columbia and the State of Louisiana. He is a member of the Louisiana Bar and District of Columbia Bar. He has served as President of the Lafayette Parish Bar Association, Chairman of the Lafayette Parish Bar Foundation, a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association House of Delegates and a member of the Louisiana State Bar Board of Governors.
